History

1935

Mr Joseph Henri Boeckmans is registered in the Antwerp Company Register under No. 36854 as a forwarder, ship’s agent, customs broker, freight broker and charterer. The company opens its doors at Meir 47 in Antwerp.

1948

Mr Boeckmans is appointed agent for Reederei H. Schuldt and Deutsche Orient Linie, both located in Hamburg which is the effective start of the shipagency activity.

1954

The company moves offices to Jordaenskaai 25, on the second floor and is appointed for various ship owners such as Argo Reederei, Transmarine, Ozean/Stinnes and Mamemic Line.

1968

Mr Boeckmans transforms the company into a private limited company “bvba”. The name becomes J. Boeckmans & C° bvba.

1971

J. Boeckmans & C° is taken over by mr. Ph. Durot.

1981

Boeckmans moves to new offices at Van Meterenkaai.

1985

Launch of Scaldic Asian Line, the company’s own parcel service between the North Continent and the Indian Subcontinent.

1993

Scaldic Med Line is launched as a parcel service between the North Continent and Turkey.

1998

Boeckmans Nederland B.V. is founded in co-operation with Voigt & C°.

2000

Boeckmans Nederland B.V. becomes full subsidiary of Boeckmans.

2007

As one of the founding members, Boeckmans participates in the creation of a new network of independent shipagents called Worldwide Shipagents Association (WWSA).

2012

Boeckmans België N.V. Takes over the activities of Durot Shipping N.V.

2013

Boeckmans becomes AEO certified in Belgium and in The Netherlands shortly afterwards which ensures the preferred status with custom authorities in both countries and the EU.

2017

Boeckmans acquires the liner agency activities of Ahlers Belgium.
